Sudio F4 / Portable Speaker

2024 / Designed by Samuel Lehto & Philip Ståhlbrand / Photography by Amanda Kho

The Sudio F4 is the third speaker in Sudio’s F-series, following the Femtio and F2. It keeps the familiar tubular form but refines it with new proportions and a full perforated steel body — the first of its kind for Sudio. Designed along with Philip Ståhlbrand, the goal was to make a portable speaker that also feels crafted to stay — an object as comfortable in a living room as in a travel bag.

Designing for Everyday Presence

With F4, the goal was to design a speaker that feels good to have around, not just good to use.

We wanted to update the predecessor Femtio’s shape without losing the warmth that made it approachable. The steel body adds weight and strength, but also creates a surface that reflects light in a soft and understated way.

The perforation pattern was shaped to do more than one thing. It supports sound quality, protects the speaker, and keeps the surface visually calm.

F4 works standing upright or lying down, but it was never meant to be hidden away. Its shape and finish allow it to sit naturally among furniture and everyday objects.

It is a small speaker, built to be used often and kept close.
